1. Setting
Time: Last days of apartheid when the group area has act has been abolished.
Place:Oriental Plaza in Johannesberg

2. Main charactetrs
(a). Mr Sakur an Indian succesful bussines man, Proud and has entergrity and values
(b). Mrs Nerbo, Self Indulgent, Privileged life (thropugh her husband's life) and arrogant.

Plot

Mr Sakur ran his business according to his rules and he did not see why a customer should question him. He had refused to accept cheques from many other customers and they had not been offended. He was not going to make an exception in the lady's case.
'Many shops have accepted my cheques in the Oriental Plaza,' Mrs Nebo said. 'You can go and ask Oriental Fashions.'
'I don't ask anyone,' Mr Sakur said, taking the scarf out of the plastic bag and replacing it on a hanger behind him.
Mrs Nebo felt humiliated by his action, her integrity tarnished. The scarf was hers, she had the money, her bank account was spiralling as funds from foreign governments poured into the coffers of her husband's political party, and here was a little man, unknown outside the Plaza, trying to deprive her of an item of feminine beauty that she could pay for ten times over.
'You don't know who Mrs Nebo is,' Margaret intervened. 'She is the wife of the man who is going to be the Foreign Minister in the new government.'
'There is the sign,' Mr Sakur said, pointing to it.
The two escorts moved closer, still chewing potato crisps. They had bought five packets each and were now emptying the fourth packet. They stared at the shopkeeper while eating as though they were prepared to eat him if given the word, but the man did not look at them to feel intimidated

1. The setting

In the story, it is clearly stated that jerry and her mom were at the beach when jerry decided to go to the rocky beach. This gives a clear impression that the story happened in one of the coastal countries.

2. The plot
The main disaster and situation of this story was when Jerry decides he wants to be able to swim through the tunnel with the other boys, but he doesn't know if he can make it. After he shows the boys he has the guts to jump off the rock, he wants to prove that he is man enough to swim through the tunnel in the rock. Although, the boys cannot actually communicate with Jerry, he has a sort of mind set that he needs to accomplish this feat in order to maintain his pride. Jerry knew at first, that he would not be able to swim throughout the tunnel without taking a breath of air, so he did exercises that resolved his problem. Jerry convinced his mother to buy him goggles, which he needed to see where the tunnel begins. On the day before Jerry and his mother were leaving for home, Jerry decided that it was the time to show what he was made of, and swim through the tunnel. He prepared himself, and dived. At first he felt like an "inflated balloon", he could hold his breath forever, but as the tunnel became darker and eerie, he started to panic and lose his control. Jerry kept swimming and counting the seconds, until he came to a point with darkness up ahead and no more oxygen left in his system. He thought he was going to die. Finally, Jerry saw a light in the distance, and he swam to the surface. Although his nose was bleeding, and he was in extreme pain, Jerry has proved to himself what he was capable of.

3. Main Character
Young: Jerry was a young boy, according to the story, he is eleven years old.

He is an English boy meaning he is probably from England.

Pride: Because of Jerry's pride, he pushed himself to be able to dive off the rock and swim through the tunnel with the bigger boys. "He felt he was accepted and he dived again, carefully, proud of himself".

Will to survive: Jerry felt like he wasn't going to make it during the last stretch of the tunnel, but he just kept pushing and finally, he resurfaced.

Courage: Jerry had the courage to swim through the tunnel, even though there was a doubt in his mind that he wouldn't be able to make it. "Next summer, perhaps, when he had another year’s growth in him then he would go through the hole".

A strong swimmer: Because he managed to swim through the tunnel.

Jerry likes to show off: He wanted to show/prove to the guys that he can also do what bigger guys can do.
